Day 24: WOW

So yes this is a serious matter that i felt it required an entire blog post all for itself.

So as avid readers of this blog know, i have been on a madd hunt for VOGUE Italia July because it was the Black Edition that was supposed to be devoted to models of color, and also to bring to the fore-front that slowly the amount of models of color are not being seen in magazine or on the runway anymore.

So finally after many attempts, i have finally acquired this magazine. Sadly, after going to Bergamo, Genoa, Pisa, Camogli, Cogoletto, pretty much everywhere in search of this magazine. The only place that it could be found was in Milan.

i am not surprised i expected it to be there considering it is one of the fashion capitals of the world, but i did not think that i would have to go to such lengths to get it.

So i will give you one scenario in which i attempted to get this magazine just to exemplify to you probably why i couldn't find it:

GRN[pea] crosses the street of Via XX Settembre, with her eyes afixed on the bright bold letters of the international book/magazine store (that will remain nameless for privacy purposes), and breathes deep hoping that this will be her final attempt. For she has been here before a short while ago, in fact 2 days ago the 1st of july. but sadly she was turned away empty handed.

Today on the 4th of July she was sure of it. There had to be the magazine there. She had seen the VOGUE Italia for June, so she was reassured that july would be there sitting waiting for its new owner to purchase it.

When GRN[pea] stepped into the all to familiar scene, her heart sunk as she looked but could not find the July edition. Amongst the swirling emotions of frustration and sadness, she realized that the July edition of VOGUE France, England, and Deutch were there. She suspected something was wrong and picked up the june edition VOGUE Italia and walked to the register. She asked "you have VOGUE Italia July??" "NO," replied the cashier with a staunch facial expression.

A curious "But you'll have Agosto though," GRN[pea] stated with knowing eyes.

"YES." said the cashier as if to say without words the entire vocabulary of her body language that represented all forms of hate.

"But no July, huh??!!" GRN[pea] said as if to reassure the cashier that all was on the table. "NO," was the reply.

She slams the VOGUE Italia of June with the porcelain skinned model on the counter and leaves the god-forsaked establishment.

So yes this is just one example. i don't think i have to explain.

ciao.

Day 23: Manu thanks :)

...yeah i was feeling a little homesick, well i am still a little less that before after talking with my bestie on skype.

btw hit me up:

So in my time of need Manuelito took us all out for Gelatos, but i must say it was a little breezy and me and my short wearing self, was shivering like i was having a seizure while on the shore side of the sea.

We waited endlessly for Manu's friend Vivi, who is an Italian who spent 2 years in Russia and speaks about 5 languages, but is a wonderful "lady."

So we she finally arrived with two of her Russian friends, we played tag on the autostrade (highway) with our stick-shift cars and got to the Historical center again!, where we had some drinks and watching a couple of drunken Russian people. How ironic considering they were not the Russian people we came with.

Btw in the time i have spent here, i have consumed sooo much second hand smoke, i would probably have increased my risk for some kind of disease by about this much.

it seems that in Italy instead of children receiving the book "everybody poops," upon their coming of age, they instead receive "everybody smokes," and a complimentary pack of camels with a bonus lighter. no i am just kidding but it is so weird for me because in NY it seems almost illegal to even think of smoking and here it is like second nature. well....

anywho ciao.
